If you are a photographer in today’s ever-changing market, you have probably heard that you should be blogging on a weekly, maybe even daily basis. However, do you, as a photographer, know why your blog is critical to business success?
Photography is a very personal service; I mean, photographers are being invited into the most special moments of a person’s life. Since clients are trusting you with some really big moments of their legacy, it is important that you establish that level of trust. Below, are two reasons why blogging is critical.
1) It Is Your Store Front
Friends, you all know the open and closed signs that are in front of every corporation and small business; well, think of your blog as one of those signs. If a client looks at your blog, and, the last post is in January and it is June, it might look like you are not doing much, if any, business. It might leave the client with the impression that you are “closed.”
When a potential client looks at your blog, they want to see your latest and greatest work, not last year’s. Website images tend to stay stagnant, not being updated often, so a blog ensures that your potential clients are seeing the latest images. An updated and well-maintained blog is showing that you are “open,” and ready for them to explore.
2) Sharing
Clients love seeing photos of themselves on any photographer’s blog; and, when they share it, say hello to one of the best word-of-mouth marketing strategies. I know blogging is a lot of work, but, take the time to make great posts for your clients-tell about the gorgeous venue and your favorite parts of their special day. Clients will love that experience!
