One of the most exciting parts of wedding planning is choosing your bridal party. Last week, I blogged about the role of the maid of honor, bridesmaids, and flower girl; and, this week we will turn to the groom’s side of the bridal party that he is responsible for choosing.
1) Best Man
Like the maid of honor on the bride’s side, the best man gives the greatest amount of support to the groom. Not only is he responsible for organizing the bachelor party or weekend, but, he makes sure the groom is on time to the ceremony, holds the rings, and is there as the bride and groom sign the marriage license. Also, he normally gives a toast at the wedding reception, like the maid of honor.
2) Groomsmen
The groomsmen, like the bridesmaids on the bride’s side, do not have much responsibility before the actual wedding day. They are mainly there to make sure the groom has a good time at any pre-wedding activities, like the bachelor party, and, on the wedding day itself. On the wedding day, the groomsmen normally greet guests as they make their way to the ceremony site, and, are expected to remain at the reception till its end.
3) Ring Bearer
Traditionally, the ring bearer is a young boy who carries the rings down the aisle on the wedding day. Normally, he does not carry the actual rings, but a pillow or box that “supposedly” has them. Like the rest of the wedding party, they, or in this case their parents, pay for their attire and arrange lodging and transportation.
