You have planned your whole life for this day; but, you need a little help to make your dreams become a reality-that is where day of coordinators and wedding planners save the day. While not quite as exciting as choosing a gown or wedding cake, the choice of hiring a day of coordinator or wedding planner is one of the biggest decisions you will make. Therefore, it is important to know the difference.
1) Day-of-Coordinator
A day of coordinator is exactly how it sounds, someone who helps manage everything the day of your wedding. This is the person you can lean on to make sure everyone arrives on time, and, does what they are supposed to do to make your wedding run smoothly. However, you and your fiancee, will have to handle the planning and be the contact for all of your wedding vendors.
Some Day-of-Coordinator Responsibilities Include:
-Help organize and space processional and recessional lineup.
-Help pin boutonnieres and corsages.
-Ensure decoration for ceremony & reception are correct.
-Serve as the point person for vendor questions the day of wedding.
-Assist with family and guest management.
-Respond to any last minute emergencies or changes.
2) Wedding Planner
Are you a busy bride that just wants someone else to do all of the heavy-lifting? If you are, a wedding planner is for you. Your wedding planner will be the point of contact between you and all of the wonderful vendors you hire; so, yes, you do not have to answer five hundred emails and phone calls. Wedding planners are also a great choice if you are planning an elaborate wedding, where a lot of vendors are involved.
Some Wedding Planner Responsibilities Include:
-Reviews your budget.
-Help with wedding day timeline.
-Help with style ideas, in order to create unified look.
-Manage all of the vendors involved: photographer, florist, bakery, stylist, etc.
-Suggest reception layout ideas, including table design.
-Can use insider discounts with some vendors.
