Two weeks ago, Wilson and I headed up to Asheville, North Carolina to shoot an anniversary session; and, since we got tickets to enter the property, Wilson and I decided to make a little day trip out of it. For all of you friends that might not know what The Biltmore is, it is America’s largest private residence built by George Vanderbilt for his wife. The house boasts 250 rooms, including 35 guest and family rooms, 43 bathrooms, and 3 kitchens. I know friends, what a home!
Our Biltmore House Highlights:
-When you walk into the entrance of The Biltmore home, one has the ability to purchase an audio headpiece that explains, in detail, about every room you will observe. This is a must; and, it is way cheaper than having a tour guide! We learned so much about this house through this audio guide.
-The self-guided tour with the audio guide was an amazing experience! I loved the winter garden, the beautifully designed bedrooms, but, my favorite room was the library. I will let you in on a little secret too, all of the books are first editions, some even signed by the original authors. I was also impressed about how long the tour was. We were in there for an hour and a half, and, we got to see more than fifty rooms. Totally worth the money!
-For lunch, we ate at the Stable Cafe; and, the food was amazing. I got their chicken salad sandwich.
TRAVEL TIP: If you are planning to go to The Biltmore, it is best to purchase tickets at least seven days in advance because you will get a discount on the ticket price; plus, you will get to cut the ticket line.
