Today is our first year wedding anniversary. This time last year I was walking down the aisle to the love of my life; and, we promised our hearts to each other forever. I cannot believe the first year of forever has passed. I read this week that the symbol for our first wedding anniversary is paper.
The Paper.
It represents a blank slate for us-a true blank slate. When you were twenty two, with zero in our checking accounts because you just graduated college (and I was still at Anderson), you took me as your wife, hoping that somehow, this job you had would work out. We moved into a tiny apartment, splurging by getting new furniture from Walmart and going out to eat Mexican. We took a couple of vacations when this part-time photography business turned into a full-time adventure of a lifetime. When we found out we were expecting, we jumped up and down like the little kids we still are, all while wondering how we were going to raise a kid ourselves. Instead of you buying me diamonds on our anniversary, we bought a crib and the latest version of our family yearbook album-both symbolizing where our life is headed; but, we would not have our legacy any other way. Wilson, I cannot wait to see what year two holds-especially, seeing who our babe looks more like. I love you!
